For Residents

Slurry Seal Do's and Don'ts for Residents

Please Do:

  • On your street's slurry seal day, please park your vehicles on a street that does not have
    parking restrictions.

  • Drive on the street only after it has been re-opened for traffic.

  • Drive slowly! The new slurry seal is still fresh and could be easily damaged.

  • If the work is being done on trash day, please have your trash cans at the street no later than 6 am. â€‹â€‹

The night before work is about to begin:

  • Remove objects that are on the street.

  • Please put your trash/recycling container out on the street the night before your scheduled trash collection day. Waste removal trucks will generally empty them prior to work starting.

  • Turn off sprinklers that create water run-off in the street.

  • Inform delivery services or visitors about the roadwork.

Please Do Not:

  • Do not walk or drive on the fresh slurry seal before it has cured, it could damage your shoes, your vehicle and the roadway.

  • Do not drive on the street until it is opened for traffic.

  • Do not turn your steering wheel while stopped on fresh slurry.  This will create what’s know as power steering marks on the street.

Follow these driving guidelines during the next few months to protect your vehicle and the newly sealed roadway from unsightly indentations and grooves.

  • No sharp turns or U-turns.

  • No speeding

  • No sharp or hard breaks and stops.

  • No stationary power steering turns.

  • No fast acceleration.

What To Expect During a Slurry Seal Project in Your Neighborhood

  • The contractor will deliver a door hanger to affected properties, explaining the work and schedule.

  • Property owners will be re-notified 48 to 72 hours in advance of the contractor returning to complete slurry seal work.

  • "No Parking" signs will be placed in the work area 48 hours in advance to remind residents to move vehicles, trash cans, and other objects of the street.

  • Roads will continue to be closed after slurry seal is applied to protect vehicles and the road from damage. Emergency access will be permitted.

  • Signs and barricades will be removed when the slurry seal is cured.

  • Minor marks and grooves will occur on the surface of the newly applied slurry seal since the material is still fresh. These marks will heal themselves over the next few months
